WANT TO BE A BADGER VOLUNTEER LEADER?

Lead a team of other students for the spring semester!

All sites have been assigned leaders. To be placed on a waiting list, please click here.

Badger Volunteers is one of the newest initiatives sponsored by the Morgridge Center to provide meaningful and consistent service to the communities surrounding the UW-Madison and to support students in service.

Teams of students partner with a specific community organization for a minimum of one semester. Each team receives education, training, and orientation on the organization, community, and social issue while providing meaningful weekly service. In this semester-long program, teams of students volunteer every week at local organizations in and around Madison under the coordination of a Badger Volunteer Leader. Badger Volunteer Leaders serve as the leader of a group of students for a specific weekly volunteer opportunity at one of 20 non-profit agencies for the whole semester. The leader serves as the primary point person, liaison and leader between the weekly volunteers and the non-profit agency while also assisting with the recruitment, logistics, and management of their Badger Volunteer group.  This position requires a semester long commitment, just 3-5 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills while providing service to the Madison community! It also looks great on a resume! Sign up for the Badger Volunteer Leader opportunity that matches your interests, schedule, and/or major.

Become a Badger Volunteer Leader for the spring!

If you are interested in leading a group of students and volunteering at the same non-profit on a weekly basis with a group of students then you should sign up to be a Badger Volunteer Leader! Each Badger Volunteer Leader must make a commitment to serve as a leader for the whole semester.

Sign up process:

1. Review the spring 2010 volunteer opportunities below and select the volunteer opportunity that is right for your interests and schedule. Each opportunity will have only one Badger Volunteer Leader.

2. Fill out an online registration form with your basic information and select the Badger Volunteer Leader opportunity that you would be interested and available to lead in the fall. The sites are first come, first serve, so be sure to register as soon as possible!

3. We will match students with a Badger Volunteer Leader opportunity based on interest and availability. Once we select the Badger Volunteer Leaders, you will received an email stating the Badger Volunteer Leader opportunity that you have been selected for.

4. All Badger Volunteer Leaders will attend two trainings and meetings. The first meeting will be be held on December 1st or 2nd and the Leaders will meet their non-profit partner. The second Badger Volunteer Leader Training will be held in the spring. These trainings will provide Badger Volunteer Leaders details about the expectations and information about how to lead their group for the semester.

5. Badger Volunteers will sign up for your team in the spring and will volunteer each week from February 8th-April 26th.

ALL SITES ARE FULL.
