Grants and Fellowships
The Morgridge Center provides various service grants and fellowships to support opportunities to create and implement service projects. We also have information about national grant opportunities that are available periodically. Service GrantsSmall grants are available to support UW-Madison students and student organizations engaged in local service projects during the current academic year. Please note: If you are applying for a grant to support an Alternative Break you must fill out an Morgridge Center Alternative Break Service Grant application instead. Alternative Break Service Grant Forms are available below. Grants up to $200 will be available for service projects that directly address the needs of the Madison community. These funds should be used to offset expenses related to implementing and promoting your service project. Payment will not be in the form of a check; rather, Center staff will work with the groups to purchase needed materials. In the past these awards have been used to:

Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowships (WIF) support innovative projects where undergraduate students, faculty/instructional staff and community organizations collaborate in service activities and/or research designed to meet a community need while enhancing student learning. Students can receive a stipend of up to $3000. The Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment is a competitive grant program open to UW-Madison faculty, staff and students. This new endowment is intended to advance The Wisconsin Idea through the development of new and innovative initiatives and new dimensions to existing outreach activities by creating and strengthening partnerships and collaborations, sharing and applying knowledge, and expanding access to lifelong learning. University Health Services offers mini-grants (up to $500) to student organizations involved in collaborative community efforts. Wisconsin Campus Compact offers grants of varying amounts to students and faculty/staff.
Starbucks Foundation Grants Service-learning programs may be eligible for a contribution of food, coffee, and money from Starbucks. Each store chooses a charity or community program to support (which can include a school). In addition, the Starbucks Foundation funds local programs that serve low-income, at-risk youth through its Youth Leadership Grant Program. Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000. The deadlines are October 1st and April 1st. Raise Your Voice: Student Action for Change This site lists several awards and scholarships for civic engagement work by students.
