American Association of Colleges of Nursing Public Policy Internship

The AACN internship offers student nurses the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the process of policy formation. Students are placed with various AACN staff with experience in health policy, quality/ patient safety, nursing education, geriatric nursing, or end of life care. Associated Students of Madison

ASM is your volunteer and campaign driven student government that advocates for student concerns with the UW Administration, Madison city council, state legislature, and federal congress. Each semester, 20-30 students are selected to participate in ASM's Internship Program, where academic credit is earned for a variety of ASM sponsored projects and programs. There are internships available in each of the committees and campaigns that ASM works on each semester, with the exception of ASM's closed committees and boards. Interns have the chance to do many different kinds of work on campaigns and committees.


The Bronx Defenders

The Bronx Defenders accepts college interns for summer placement and investigative interns for both summer and semester placement. All internships are full time. Investigative interns are responsible for the field work associated with the defense of a criminal case. They take witness statements, serve subpoenas and, if necessary, testify.


Conservancy of Southwest Florida Conservation Associate

Upon completion of the Conservation Associate Program, a CA leaves with a varied hands-on experience that can include animal care and basic medical techniques, education program development, public speaking skills, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of South Florida flora and fauna - depending upon the program area. Other benefits include housing with washer and dryer, uniform shirts, and accident insurance, all furnished at no charge. Conservation Associates receive a scholarship equivalent to $125 per week of service. The scholarship may be used to cover expenses at the student's discretion.


Conservation on the Land Internship Program - Wisconsin Land & Water Conservation Association

Numerous opportunities are available through the Conservation on the Land Internship Program.  Postings at this time include various types of Conservation Interns who will work at county Land Conservation Departments or related organizations throughout Wisconsin, including Burnett, Dodge, Eau Claire, and Rusk, Sauk counties.  Responsibilities vary by county, and include work such as GIS mapping, monitoring invasive species, conservation planning, and lake and stream surveying.


Democracy Matters

Democracy Matters is a non-partisan non-profit organization of students and professors working on campuses across the country to educate people about the role of money in politics, and its impact on democracy. We are hiring part-time interns during the academic year to: Build coalitions of student activists on campus…Organize teach-ins on money in politics…Train college students to run workshops in high schools…Coordinate with other colleges in sponsoring reform legislation…Lobby and educate elected officials about campaign finance reform…Run petition drives and door-to-door canvasses to educate students on the issue of money in politics. Democracy Matters provides Campus Coordinators with a stipend of $750 per semester, professional support, a wide range of materials, funding for campus activities, and opportunities to participate in regional and national conferences. GUTS - Greater University Tutoring Service

The Intern will meet with the Director to develop a work plan based on the their interests and on the needs of GUTS. However, possible projects may include study skills workshop development and facilitation, individual counseling with students who need help with various study skills, and outreach to various campus groups to promote the program. Work two hours per week per credit, plus weekly staff meetings for a semester. Hours are generally weekday afternoons and evenings.

South Madison Farmers' Market

Help grow the South Madison Farmers' Market this season!  We are offering opportunities for INTERNSHIP and INDEPENDENT STUDY projects, with the flexibility to design a project around your
interests. Volunteers are also welcome for a few hours or a special event. We are looking for help in the following areas:
- Mentor teens in our farm program
- Take photos
- Survey customers
- Write articles for our newsletter and website
- Help with one of our monthly events (food, music, and art activities for kids)
- Publicity

ABOUT THE MARKET:  Located close to campus on S. Park Street, you'll find an exciting
range of products (many not even available in the supermarket) that reflect the cultural diversity of the south side of Madison. Fresh, organic produce, flower bouquets, meat, and baked goods are just a small taste of what we offer. People describe the market as a "community within a community" where individuals of different ages, ethnicities, and abilities gather to shop, talk, and exchange information about food. Washington Semester Program at American University
Transforming Communities Seminar

The Transforming Communities Seminar is a survey of community problems, and of policies and programs, particularly at the national level, designed to solve them.  The Seminar will provide opportunities to meet with policy makers, administrators, grassroots leaders, and members of the research and evaluation communities examining the effectiveness of the system and new policies and strategies designed to build and strengthen our communities. Wexford Ridge Neighborhood Center

WRNC has a number of opportunities for students who would like to do community projects and/or integrate community work into their research.  The center will work with students and faculty to meet academic requirements. Prefer to have this person work for a full year. Starting and ending dates are negotiable. Work about 10 hours per week on average.
