Volunteer Tips

Liability and Medical Information Medical Coverage
The University does NOT provide medical coverage for volunteers whether they are serving on or off campus. Volunteers should have their own coverage.

Liability
Volunteers are responsible for their actions and behavior. If a volunteer causes injury to, or damages to the property of another person or entity, she/he may be held liable. Volunteers should check with the school or community organization with whom they are volunteering to learn more about the liability coverage they may provide.

Background Checks
Schools and most programs serving children and youth will require their potential volunteers to undergo a criminal background screening.
