Morgridge Center for Public Service 2025-26 Annual Report

Posted on July 16, 2026

The Morgridge Center for Public Service released its annual report highlighting the center’s activities and programs over the past year. The report details how the center lives out its mission of building a thriving democratic society by connecting campus with community through service, community-based learning and research.

Highlights from this year include: the celebration of the Morgridge Center’s 30-year anniversary, hiring of Emma Gleed, participating in Day of the Badger, expanding the definition of civic engagement beyond voting and more.

The Morgridge Center celebrated its 30th anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 9, marking three decades of living out the Wisconsin Idea by connecting campus and community through community service, learning and research. A cornerstone of this milestone was the production of an 80-page commemorative magazine, detailing the center’s history of civic impact and featuring stories of foundational community leaders, alumni, staff and students.

The Morgridge Center participated in its first-ever Day of the Badger, UW–Madison’s premier annual giving campaign. The center experienced an overwhelming wave of generosity from its network. Showing early momentum, the center reached its challenge goal of 30 donors in just over 12 hours on the first day. This fast start set the stage for total success, resulting in 40 total donors and a total of $10,430 raised.

  • “The least commendable purpose of acquiring knowledge…is to apply it to one’s own advancement – to achieve worldly success. A higher purpose is to fit one to live the intellectual life…A third and the highest purpose of acquiring knowledge is to use it for the benefit of mankind.” — Former UW President Charles Van Hise
