Expeditions in Learning: The Power of High Impact Practices in STEM
Posted Nov 11, 2014
Traditionally, community-based research has been most prominent in the social sciences. But that’s quickly changing.
Students, staff and faculty interested in community-based research in STEM disciplines are invited to a new program at the Morgridge Center for Public Service on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 3-5 p.m.
“Expeditions in Learning: The Power of High Impact Teaching and Learning Practices in STEM” is designed to provide insight into ongoing STEM community-based research and advice for future projects. The program is open to anyone in the UW-Madison community.
The program will take place at the Morgridge Center for Public Service offices in the Red Gym: Room 154.
Topics will include:
- Intro to community-based research (CBR) in STEM disciplines
- Case studies
- Advice about incorporating CBR into your research
- Guest speaker Catherine Woodward, from WISCIENCE, will discuss her water quality research in Ecuador.
If possible, please RSVP to Haley Madden at firstname.lastname@example.org.
