Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Community Partners,
Greetings to you all! It has been a delight and an honor for me to step into the role of Director of the Morgridge Center for Public Service. I have served as director since June 2014, but I have been a fan of the Morgridge Center for Public Service since I joined the UW-Madison faculty in 2000. It has been an invaluable resource to me in designing and implementing the service-learning course that I have taught within the Department of Political Science here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2001. It has also been a guiding light in my efforts to do my work as a member of the campus community in the spirit of the Wisconsin Idea.
The Morgridge Center for Public Service is a campus gem and a tremendous community resource. The staff members here are gifted and committed. Over the past years they have built numerous programs that enhance the learning experience of our students, both undergraduate and graduate, and help share the resources of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with the community beyond campus. It is truly my honor to work with them.
In my time in this position, I will be focusing on several things. First, I hope to cultivate an environment of community engagement both on and off campus. In other words, I want people on campus and in the community to increasingly look to the Morgridge Center for Public Service as a model of effective public service and as a resource to which they can turn to help implement campus-community partnerships that benefit all involved. Second, it is my goal to have the Morgridge Center for Public Service contribute significantly to the racial equity work that we all need to tackle on our campus and in our community.
I am very excited to work with you all.
