Communications Specialist

Position Type: Full-time, salaried

Under the supervision of and with support from the Assistant Director for Civic Engagement and Communications, this position will direct planning, strategy and content for communications and marketing that support the mission, vision and priorities of the Morgridge Center.

The Communications Specialist will be dedicated to working as part of a team, developing audience-focused feature stories, news releases, electronic newsletters, video content, social media content and other materials designed to promote and advance the Morgridge Center name, programs and events. This position will also oversee website maintenance, graphic design and brand. Strong interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to translate complex academic topics including service learning and community-based research for general audiences are essential.

The individual must be current in national trends and professional practices in communications and marketing, especially as they affect higher education. Please see the job description for more information.

Badger Volunteers Coordinator

The Badger Volunteers Coordinator at the Morgridge Center for Public Service at the University of Wisconsin-Madison reports to the Assistant Director of Civic Engagement and is responsible for promoting, managing and supporting the Badger Volunteers program as well as a broader portfolio of co-curricular civic engagement opportunities for students.

Badger Volunteers is a semester-long program where students sign up to join a team of student volunteers who serve weekly at local organizations in and around Madison led by a Badger Volunteers Student Leader. Each team receives education, training, and orientation on the organization, community, and social issue while providing meaningful weekly service on a predetermined day and time.

The Badger Volunteers program aims to meet community-identified opportunities while promoting student growth and leadership development to enhance their Wisconsin Experience.
