The Morgridge Center for Public Service promotes citizenship and learning through service within local, national and global communities. The Center builds on the Wisconsin Idea, a strong tradition of service to the community by students, faculty and alumni. The CEP GA will have multiple roles ranging from researching and analyzing existing community engagement initiatives at the university; and assisting in the creation of trainings and resources that further support a culture of critical and respectable engagement with the community.
Qualified candidates will be self-motivated, responsible, independent workers with good time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Candidates should also have some knowledge/familiarity with historical and current issues of social justice and equity in Dane County and Wisconsin.
Campus and community engagement research and assessment
- Assist in mapping out on-going community engagement initiatives and community engagement preparation curriculum
- Evaluate and synthesize community engagement preparation curriculum
- Help identify relevant evaluation metrics
- Work collaboratively with Community Outreach intern to garner feedback from community partners and university stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
- Support curriculum development of student leaders engaged in the Student Organization Partnership Program
- Help identify and recruit relevant student leaders to engage in development trainings
- Assist in the development of community engagement preparation sessions
- Support faculty and staff in the implementation of community engagement best practices
Hours and Compensation:
Period of Appointment: approximately mid-August to mid-December 2019.
$17/hour; average of 10 hours/week.
