How to Apply

The application process for a Wisconsin Idea Fellowship includes 6 separate items. Please read the Application Instruction Sheet carefully for information on all 6 items.

  4. Budget Spreadsheet
  5. Current, Official UW-Madison Transcript for Each Student
  6. Two Signed Letters of Support

NOTE -  If you are proposing an international project in a country that has a U.S. State Department Travel Warning you will need approval from the University International Travel Committee (UITC). Your faculty advisor should mention in their letter of support that they are willing to work with you through the UITC process and act as your primary emergency contact. The travel warning waiver request form can be found here.

Application Process

The Priority Deadline for 2017-18 applications is Jan. 27, 2017 at 5pm CST.

Applications submitted by this date are guaranteed to be reviewed by the Wisconsin Idea Fellowships Advisor and returned with comments within one week. Applicants then have one week to edit and resubmit their proposal before the selection committee reviews them.

The Final Deadline for submission is Feb. 10, 2017 at 5pm CST.

Priority Deadline applicants must RESUBMIT their proposals. Late proposals will not be accepted. Applicants who choose to submit after the Priority Deadline will not be penalized, but they will not receive feedback on proposals prior to final evaluation.
