Community Care and Healthcare Equity with Dua Ci Khang
By Molly Nichols | October 15, 2026
In this episode of the GridgeFridge, we sit down with Dua Ci Khang, the lead for the Pre-Health Professional Development Programming at the Center for Pre-Health Advising at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
With a background in secondary education, multicultural affairs and educator training, Khang has built a career centered on community care, advocacy and social justice. As the proud daughter of two immigrants, her personal experiences and professional journey have shaped her commitment to creating more equitable opportunities for students and the communities they serve.
At UW–Madison, Khang works to prepare aspiring healthcare professionals through collaborative programming with campus and community partners. Her work includes initiatives such as the EMT Experience program and the Health Professions Shadowing Program, which provide students with opportunities to explore healthcare careers and gain firsthand experience in the field before graduation.
At the heart of Khang’s work is the belief that healthcare equity begins with understanding the communities and individuals at the center and through creating equitable environments. By connecting students with professional experiences and opportunities for engagement, her programming encourages future healthcare professionals to consider how advocacy, accessibility and cultural understanding shape our healthcare system.
Looking forward, Khang continues to build opportunities for students to explore healthcare while considering the needs of the communities they hope to serve. Her work highlights the importance of preparing not only skilled healthcare professionals, but also advocates for diverse and equitable programs and empathetic members of society at the end of their time at UW–Madison.
