We’re thrilled to say that the first-ever Be the Change Banquet on May 5 was a huge success! It was incredible to bring together over 200 UW-Madison students, faculty and staff as well as our community partners to celebrate a fantastic year of service and community.
Tripp Commons in Memorial Union was packed with energy and celebration even before the event officially kicked off at 5:00. Though, we shouldn’t be surprised that a room full of so many engaged, generous people made for such a great evening.
Our thanks, first and foremost, goes out to all who joined us for the celebration. The Banquet was the least we could do to thank you for the time you’ve dedicated to service, teaching and partnership in Madison and beyond.

We would like to extend a special thank you to School of Education Dean Julie Underwood and Chancellor Rebecca Blank who offered kind and inspiring remarks during the event.
Our congratulations goes out to all our award winners. Your passion for community and service is an inspiration to all of us. Congratulations as well to all who were nominated. And we have to thank our Awards Committee for their dedication to reading applications and selecting our winners.
A thank you as well to our Assistant Director Beth Tryon, her husband Ted and her son Miles for lending their jazz trio talents to the event. Thanks as well to Redefined for their acapella performance.
Every day, we continue to work towards fully realizing the vision of the Wisconsin Idea through the tireless work of our partners in the community and our students and staff on campus. So, in the words of our Director Kathy Cramer, let’s keep hope alive!
We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
