Local news station WISC-TV Channel 3 produced an editorial Oct. 22 lauding the Badger Volunteers program as “the Wisconsin Idea in action.”
Editorial Director Neil Heinen delivered the 90-second editorial saying “There are a lot of contributions to our world for which the University of Wisconsin-Madison is responsible for that tend to get lost in the political policy debates.”
Heinen further highlighted the 780 students who joined as Badger Volunteers this fall, the long-term relationships the program helps foster with community partners and the 37,000 hours of combined service by Badger Volunteers last year.
“Housed in the terrific Morgridge Center for Public Service, Badger Volunteers is a wonderful example of the Wisconsin Idea in action,” said Heinen. “We think that’s worth remembering in the light of current political conversations.”
