Connecting Campus and Community through Community-based Service, Learning, and Research
Building off the success of last year’s conference, this year’s conference focused on the importance of bringing together community and campus expertise, knowledge, and people power to create stronger communities, resilient systems and a more just and equitable world.
Wisconsin Idea Week, organized by the Morgridge Center for Public Service and in collaboration with various community and campus partners, is a week-long celebration of civic and community-engaged efforts at the University of Wisconsin–Madison from April 8 to 16.
Anusha Naik, a fourth-year medical student at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, worked as an engagement preparations intern at the Morgridge Center from 2019-20 before graduating in 2020. The lessons she learned about community engagement at the Morgridge Center have continued to apply as she pursues a career in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery.
Expanding beyond a conference, this year will feature a week-long celebration, Wisconsin Idea Week, April 8-16, which will showcase a diversity of community-university partnerships already at play in Wisconsin and create new opportunities for connection and collaboration.
As the senior director of State Relations for UW–Madison, Crystal Potts is the connecting piece between UW–Madison and the state government, balancing the interests and needs of Wisconsin legislators and policymakers with those of UW–Madison leadership, faculty and students.
